TORONTO, ON (October 2, 2026) — After more than a decade of chart-topping success, Madeline Merlo is embracing a new era of music on her own terms. With nearly 150 million global streams, six Top 10 singles at Canadian country radio and four Grand Ole Opry performances already to her name, the multi-platinum singer-songwriter and CCMA Award winner launches this next chapter with her new single “I Think You’re In Love With Me” out today.
Written by Merlo, Seth Mosley (Cooper Allan, High Valley, Gabby Barrett) and Emma Lee Doty (Brett Kissel, Mickey Guyton, MacKenzie Porter), “I Think You’re In Love With Me” is an upbeat, infectious take on the little reminders of a past relationship that can follow you into the next one. The track has already connected with fans online and in her live shows, making it a fitting introduction to this exciting new chapter.
"‘I Think You’re in Love With Me’ is a playful, self-assured song about the ways someone can leave their mark on a relationship, so much so that even after it ends, you carry pieces of them with you into the next one,” shares Merlo. “It was an incredibly fun song to write, and that energy comes through in the track, which has already become a fan favourite both online and live. It’s an exciting first step into a new chapter for me and an official welcome to the new Madeline Merlo era.”
Over the course of her career, Merlo has continued to build an impressive body of work as both a songwriter and artist, including co-writing the winning song from NBC’s Songland and Lady A’s No. 1 hit “Champagne Night,” earning three CCMA Awards, being named the 2026 BCCMA Entertainer of the Year and receiving a 2026 CCMA Award nomination for Female Artist of the Year. Her vocals have also appeared on the CCMA Award-winning release by Dustin Lynch, in addition to Jelly Roll and Cole Swindell, and she was selected as a 2024 CMT Next Women of Country artist. Now, she’s stepping into a new era as an independent artist, taking full ownership of her music and creative direction and releasing new music entirely on her own terms.
“I have been sitting with this music for a couple of years now, as I waited to be allowed to release it. At one point, I wasn’t sure I’d ever get to share it, and I started questioning myself and whether I could continue as an artist. After 14 years of making music, I very consciously chose to start this era independently. I now own my music and get to make those decisions for myself. I’m proud to finally share this song and begin rolling out the rest of my album with the freedom to shape this next chapter, and I’m excited to see where it leads,” says Merlo.
With “I Think You’re In Love With Me” officially kicking off this new era, Merlo is entering a new chapter that reflects her growth as an artist and a songwriter. The result is music that feels fresh and distinctly her, while building on everything that has brought her to this point.

ABOUT MADELINE MERLO: Madeline Merlo has spent more than a decade carving out her place in country music as a singer, songwriter and artist, with nearly 150 million global streams, six Top 10 singles at Canadian country radio, four Grand Ole Opry performances and three CCMA Awards to her name. Raised in Maple Ridge, B.C., Merlo grew up with a musical mix of classic soul, R&B and ’90s country, drawing inspiration from powerhouse vocalists including Aretha Franklin, Dolly Parton, Martina McBride and Faith Hill. After attending her first concert, a Shania Twain show, she declared she wanted to be a singer, and by 16, she was making trips to Nashville to write songs.
Merlo’s career has since taken her from Canadian country radio to the Nashville songwriting community and beyond. In 2020, she competed on Season 2 of NBC’s Songland, where her song “Champagne Night” was selected by Lady A and went on to become a PLATINUM-certified No. 1 hit. Her songwriting and vocal credits have continued to expand, with appearances on releases by Dustin Lynch, Jelly Roll and Cole Swindell, including the CCMA Award-winning release from Lynch. Along the way, she has been selected as a 2024 CMT Next Women of Country artist and named the 2026 BCCMA Entertainer of the Year, while earning a 2026 CCMA Award nomination for Female Artist of the Year.
Now an independent artist, Merlo is entering a new chapter with full ownership of her music and creative direction. With a sound shaped by her country roots and broad musical influences, she is releasing new music entirely on her own terms.
